I currently attend Ripley St. Thomas 6th form where I am studying Art, Product Design and ICT. I feel that by taking these subjects I have gained valuable skills which I could apply to a Graphic Design course.

I am used to using a variety of different drawing media and techniques in my art work as well as using visual research skills to help progress the development of my work. Product Design has given me the skills to generate and develop a range of ideas in response to briefs, eventually leading to me to manufacturing the final product using Computer Aided Design. As well as the use of CAD in my product design coursework, as I take ICT I feel that I would be confident learning how to use new software.

My initial interest in Graphic Design sparked after reading Grafik magazine where I was inspired by the work of many different designers. The images in the magazine really stood out to me and I hope that some day I will be able to inspire others with my work. After looking through the magazines I looked up Graphic Design courses and liked how the course was based around the communication of ideas through type and image.

The work I have chosen to submit shows a range of my art and Product Design coursework from both AS and A2 level. From my artwork I have chosen to include examples of different drawing techniques including continuous line drawing, mono-printing and the use of water colours. I have also included some of my unit 3 art project which is on natural beauty; how the human body and natural forms can be combined and compared. This project started off by focusing on two artists; Sara Singh and Daniele Buetti. I researched the artists and looked at examples of their work, allowing me to create my own imagery in their styles.

Lastly I have uploaded my situation and brief for my product design hair dryer coursework with some sheets of my initial ideas.
